Kaar Sewa Khadur Sahib is a non profit organization situated in Tarn Taran district, Punjab founded by Late Sant Baba Gurmukh Singh ji more than 100 years ago in 1920. It is

currently being run under the patronage of Padam Shri Awardee Baba Sewa Singh ji. Kaar Sewa Khadur Sahib has constantly been engaged in numerous welfare projects in the field

of education, environment & sports etc.

As an Administrator :

Head of Kaar Sewa Khadur Sahib:

Kaar Sewa Khadur Sahib  is a century old institution with  hundreds of permanent volunteers i.e. Sewadars and salaried persons providing their services as masons, plumbers, carpenters, drivers and labour.

Being the Head of Kaar Sewa Khadur Sahib, Baba Sewa Singh  supervises the construction and renovation of historical Sikh Gurdwaras in various parts of India. Many sarais in Gurdwara, roads, bridges have been constructed.

As Social Worker::

  • During Covid period an isolation centre for immigrants (NRIs) was established in Khadur Sahib, where 1171 persons from various 32 countries were facilitated.
  • During this period 8 lacs masks and sanitizers were distributed.
  • During the lock down langar was distributed to needy people in 450 villages.

As an Environmentalist:

  • Ø Campaign for tree plantation was initiated by him in 1999. So far more than 6.5 lac trees have been planted along the road sides as well as in the educational institutions, hospitals and other public places in Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pardesh, Delhi and Mumbai.

  • Ø 550 Km stretch of roads and 500 villages have been covered in respect of tree plantation. 

  • Ø Trees like Neem, Jamun, Tulsi and other varieties of plants rich in oxygen and for a good healthy environment have been successfully planted. 

  •  Ø Traditional trees like Banyan and Peepal have been planted. The group of Banyan, Peepal and Neem trees called the “Triveni” has been planted in large number.

  • Ø A plant nursery (For the environmental projects) has been established in Khadur Sahib, that equipped with more than one lac saplings, which are nurtured and enriched with the best natural resources of the time.

    Ø Concerned for maintenance of ecological balance and for the conservation of the environment to protect the environment from destruction or pollution.

    Ø Encourages agriculture for eco-diversity horticulture. For this purpose, various fruit orchards of different types have been established in Khadur Sahib.

    Ø Protect air, water and land from pollution and its effects.

    Ø A new campaign is underway in which the organisation has pledged for 550 plots of forest like plantation in the commemoration 550th  Parkash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Meanwhile 281 forest have already been planted in this series.

Five more institutes operate under his patronage through Nishan-E-Sikhi Charitable Trust (Regd.) Khadur Sahib:

Ø Sri Guru Angad Dev Institute of Religious Studies is running to impart spiritual and cultural education. The institute has made arrangements to impart knowledge of relative/comparative study of different religions of the world for its students.

Ø Nishan-E-Sikhi Institute of Science & Training (NDA Wing)   prepares the candidates for National Defence Academy (NDA) examination conducted for direct officer entry in the Indian Army. The institute has so far placed 19 candidates in Indian Armed Forces and 79 candidates in Merchant Navy.

 

Ø Nishan-E-Sikhi Institute of Science & Training (NEET/JEE Wing) with the motive of providing opportunities to students & to get admissions in reputed medical and engineering colleges at affordable cost and for economically downtrodden students was initiated in 2009.

Ø Institute of Career and Courses imparts training to women aspirants for recruitment in defence and police services. The institute has so far placed 600 candidates in various police, military and paramilitary forces among which 10 of them are designated as Sub-Inspector in Punjab Police.

 

Ø Nishan-E-Sikhi Centre for civil services: A special three year degree course B.A Social Studies is being run in this centre to prepare students for the renowned UPSC exams. 1 year course is also offered to the graduate students to prepare for UPSC exams

Award and Recognitions:

Ø The  UN Secretary General Mr. Ban Ki Moon honoured him during Windsor celebrations in London in November 2009.

Ø Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam former president of India presented him Capital Foundation Justice Kuldip Singh Award in 2011.

Ø Chief Minister of Punjab conferred the State Award to him for social service during the 65th Independence Day function on 15th August  2011 and  in 2018

 

 

Ø The organisation Nishan-E-Sikhi Charitable Trust (regd.) Khadur Sahib has been selected i.e UNEP Faith for Earth Councillor and Chairman Honourable Baba Sewa Singh ji has been awarded with a certificate on dated 03rd July 2021

 

Ø Apart from these awards, various NGOs have honoured him for his excellence in environment protection, social service and education. 

The prestegious Padma Shri Award

Padma Shri Award by the President of India on March 31, 2010. ( However, it was retuned in support of the farmer protest in 2020)
